Skate 4 is in development at a new EA studio called Full Circle

Electronic Arts has announced Full Circle, a new Vancouver-based development studio which is making Skate 4.

The studio is headed up by former Xbox Live general manager Daniel McCulloch, who spent 15 years with Microsoft’s gaming business before departing in June 2020.

EA says Skate’s creative leadership, game director Deran Chung and series producer Chris Parry, were both central to the creation of the franchise and the development of the three original games, the last of which released in 2010.

Full Circle, which is “embracing a geo-diverse team and culture” and employs “team members around the globe”, is currently staffing up with over 30 open positions listed on its website.

The next entry in the Skate series, which is yet to be given an official title, was revealed in June 2020 in a surprise announcement which broke EA’s Twitter engagement record.

“The fans wished Skate back into existence and we want them involved in the process from development to game launch and beyond. We want them to feel like they are a part of Full Circle,” said studio GM McCulloch.

“We’re all about having fun and making great games that people want to play with their friends. And, we’re looking for more developers to help us build compelling worlds for players to explore.”

EA CEO Andrew Wilson has said he believes the company can grow the appeal of the Skate series by focusing on industry trends around user-generated content, open-worlds and community.
