Sekiro has almost doubled its sales since release, claims From parent
Action game sold two million copies in its first 10 days
From Software’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has sold some 3.8 million copies, its parent company Kadokawa has revealed.
The latest figure means the Activision-published title has roughly doubled its sales since its March release, when it sold two million copies in less than 10 days.
According to From, its core Dark Souls series has shipped over 25 million units, which doesn’t include spin-offs such as Sekiro and Bloodborne.
The Bloodborne studio’s latest action adventure title sees players take on the role of a shinobi on a revenge mission in late-1500s Sengoku Japan.
Released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 22, Sekiro received glowing reviews, earning a 90+ score on all platforms according to review aggregation site Metacritic.
VGC’s Sekiro review praised the game’s smart combat system, great skill trees and more coherent than expected story, while noting, as with other From Software games, some will find it too hard.
“Sekiro is a fabulous game,” reads the 5/5 verdict. “It really feels like the culmination of From Software’s modus operandi, honed relentlessly since 2009, and while it plays pretty much like the Soulsborne games, it also feels different and fresh.”
