Sega will stream a Sonic Central presentation on Friday

Sega has announced plans to hold a Sonic the Hedgehog live stream on June 23.

The latest Sonic Central showcase will kick off on Friday at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST / 5pm CEST and be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Sega said: “Tune in for a sneak peek of some of our upcoming projects, partnerships, and events happening in 2023.”

The event could be used to show off more of the new 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game Sega announced earlier this month.

Sonic Superstars lets players control either Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy Rose, and for the first time in a Sonic game, there will also be co-op support for up to four players.

The game will be released in fall 2023 both digitally and physically, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.

The second batch of Sonic Prime episodes is set to arrive on Netflix in July, while a live action Knuckles TV series set between the Sonic 2 and 3 movies is currently in production.

Last month, Sega also announced the Sonic Symphony world tour concert series.

Celebrating over 30 years of Sonic music, the tour will kick off later this year with concerts at the Barbican Hall in London on September 16 and the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on September 30.

Music will be performed live by a full symphony orchestra and rock band, to the backdrop of iconic moments from the series being played on the big screen.
