Sega reveals multiple Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games titles
Including Official Video Game for consoles and PC, Mario & Sonic for Switch
Sega will release multiple titles to coincide with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
According to the official website for Olympic video games, the titles are Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game (PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC), Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (Switch), Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (iOS /Android), and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Arcade Edition.
The games were announced during the Sega Fes 2019 event in Tokyo. You can see them in action in the reveal trailer below, which also includes archive footage from the last time the Summer Olympic Games were held in Tokyo in 1964.
Sega has previously developed and published Olympic Games titles for Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016, plus the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014.
Sega FES 2019 was also used to confirm a Sega Mega Drive Mini launch date of September 19, 2019.
Priced at $80/£70, the plug in and play console (called Sega Genesis Mini in the US) will come with 40 games, the first 10 of which have been confirmed.
They are Ecco the Dolphin, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Space Harrier 2, Shining Force, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Machine, ToeJam & Earl, Comix Zone, Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, and Gunstar Heroes.
