Sega has delayed Humankind’s console release indefinitely
Publisher says the delay is due to “unique challenges” and it’s offering refunds
Sega has delayed the console release of strategy game Humankind indefinitely.
It said the PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game have been pushed back until further notice “due to some unique challenges”.
The console versions are in development at Sega-owned Amplitude Studios and Aspyr.
Customers who have pre-purchased the game on digital storefronts will receive refunds “where applicable in line with platform policy”.
Sega added: “We apologise for the inconvenience but rest assured that Sega Europe, Amplitude Studios and Aspyr are working hard to bring the best possible Humankind experience to console players.
“We can’t give a timeframe on a new release date right now, but as soon as we are in a position to do so, we will let everyone know and we thank the community for their continued support and understanding.”
Developed by Amplitude Studios and released for PC in August 2021, the 4X strategy game sees players mix cultures across six different eras of human history to build a civilisation.
Humankind’s first major expansion pack, Together We Rule, is scheduled for release on PC on November 9.
