Sega’s 60th anniversary celebrations include a free Streets of Rage and Yakuza crossover game
Four retro-inspired mini games are being given away for a limited time
Sega is releasing a series of retro-inspired mini games to celebrate its 60th anniversary.
As part of a week-long Steam promotion also featuring many discounted titles from its catalogue, the company will release four new mini games including a Streets of Rage and Yakuza crossover.
Each title will be free to download and keep between 10am PT/6pm BST on its release day until the same time on the day its removed, after which it will be gone forever.
- Armor of Heroes (Relic Entertainment, The Eccentric Ape) – A retro-inspired multiplayer tank romp for up to four players in versus combat and couch co-op. Available from 15-19 October.
- Endless Zone (Amplitude Studios, The Eccentric Ape) – The Endless universe and Fantasy Zone™ collide in this side-scrolling shoot ‘em up. Available from 16-19 October.
- Streets of Kamurocho (Empty Clip Studios, Sega) – Kiryu and Majima from Sega’s critically acclaimed Yakuza series are raging on the Streets of Kamurocho in a new, but familiar challenge. Available from 17-19 October.
- Golden Axed (Sega, The Eccentric Ape) – A build of a never-before-seen glimpse at a canned project called Golden Axe: Reborn. Available from 18-19 October.
Steam users who link their accounts to their email addresses at Sega’s new 60th anniversary website will also be able to download Nights into Dreams for free until December 13.
Over the next 60 days the website will be hosting let’s plays, competitions, interviews with Sega veterans and more.
