Key next-gen optimisations for Rare’s game revealed
Rare has announced how Sea of Thieves has been optimised for Xbox Series X/S.
In addition to improved loading times, the game will run at 4K and 60fps on Xbox Series X, and at 1080p and 60fps on Xbox Series S.
Microsoft said in July that Sea of Thieves had been played by over 15 million people since launch, cementing the game’s place as “the most successful new IP from Xbox this generation”.
The pirate-themed co-op multiplayer game released for Xbox One and PC in March 2018, when it became the first exclusive title from Microsoft to launch on Xbox Game Pass day-and-date with its retail release.
Microsoft previously announced how fellow Xbox One titles Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Forza Horizon 4 and Gears Tactics have been optimised to look and play better on Xbox Series X.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is 4K 120fps, while Forza Horizon 4 and Gears Tactics are 4K 60fps.
Launching worldwide on November 10, Xbox Series X is priced at $499/€499/£449 and Xbox Series S costs $300/$300/£249.
The Xbox Series X/S software launch line-up features 30 games, including 20 which support Smart Delivery.
All Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games playable on Xbox One today—excluding those that require Kinect—will also be available on Microsoft’s next-gen consoles at launch via backward compatibility.
