Sea of Thieves trailer reveals major Anniversary Update
New competitive game mode, quests, fishing and cooking arriving on April 30
Rare will release Sea of Thieves’ next major content expansion, the Anniversary Update, on April 30.
Launching some 13 months after the pirate adventure’s initial Xbox One and PC release, the free update will introduce The Arena, a competitive game mode that lets players take on other crews in fast-paced games to amass the most loot.
The update will also kick off a series of Tall Tales, a collection of narrative adventures that can be played solo or with a crew. Beginning with Shores of Gold, they’ll introduce new characters, locations and gameplay features.
Additionally, a new trading company called The Hunter’s Call will provide fresh means to progress towards Pirate Legend, plus gold and cosmetic rewards, in return for players mastering new fishing and cooking capabilities.
Rare will be hosting a number of live streams providing more details on the update in the run-up to release.
To celebrate the game’s anniversary, the studio is also releasing new Mercenary Voyages and in-game items, which will be available over the coming days. Full details can be found on its website.
