Sea of Solitude release date confirmed
Jo-Mei Games’ story-driven adventure releasing in July
EA has announced a July 5 release date for Sea of Solitude, which will cost $19.99 on PS4, Xbox One and Origin for PC.
The title is the second release from the company’s indie publishing arm, EA Originals, which gives all the profits from its games to the studios that made them.
Developed by Berlin-based Jo-Mei Games, Sea of Solitude takes place in a world where humans turn into monsters when they get too lonely, a fate that has befallen the game’s protagonist Kay.
She has to navigate dynamic environments and overcome emotional challenges in order to unlock new areas, and must also encounter a range of monsters before uncovering what it takes to change back to a human.
“Sea of Solitude centers on the essence of loneliness and tugs on the heartstrings of its players by mirroring their own reality,” said Jo-Mei Games CEO Cornelia Geppert.
“Designing characters based on emotions was a deeply personal achievement for our team and we’re so excited for players to soon experience Kay’s powerful story of self-discovery and healing.”
The trailer above, first shown during EA Play in June 2018, slated the game for release in early 2019, although Geppert confirmed this April that it had been delayed.
