Sayonara Wild Hearts gets surprise PS5 release with exclusive game mode
PS4 owners can upgrade to the new PS5 version of Sayonara Wild Hearts for free
Annapurna Interactive has released a PlayStation 5 version of acclaimed rhythm action game Sayonara Wild Hearts.
The game’s surprise PS5 launch was revealed at the conclusion of an Annapurna digital showcase on Monday, which is viewable below.
The PS5 version of the game is priced at $12.99, but players who own the title on PS4 can upgrade to the new version for free as long as both platforms are linked to the same Sony account.
The game is also available in the PlayStation Plus Extra Game Catalog for subscribers.
The PS5 version of the game features 4K resolution, 120 FPS, and haptic feedback through the DualSense controller.
It also introduces a brand-new unlockable mode called Remix Arcade, which is available exclusively on PS5.
It sees players “speed through infinitely replayable levels and chase high scores in random sound bites, all with no loading”, according to a description accompanying the game’s reveal trailer.
Developed by Simogo, Sayonara Wild Hearts was originally released in 2019 for PS4, Switch and Apple Arcade. VGC named the title Audio Visual Game of the Year in its 2019 Games of the Year awards.
Today’s Annapurna digital showcase also confirmed that Cocoon developer Geometric is working on a new unannounced title that will be published by Annapurna.
Among other announcements, Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi’s new game, To a T, received a May 28, 2025 release date for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
