A new video game based on cult anime Samurai Pizza Cats is in development.

Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast From the Past is coming to “all major platforms” in 2026, with a Steam page already up.

Set to be published by Red Dunes Games, the game is being developed by Dutch studio Blast Zero, best known for the anime inspired beat ’em up Jitsu Squad.

The game is described as a “2D action RPG” and will see players able to switch between the members of the Pizza Cats as they explore the world of Little Tokyo. Each cat will have their own abilities.

The first trailer for the game was also released, revealing that the game will have a 2D art style designed to make it look like the original animated series.

“That’s right folks,” the game’s Steam description reads, “after more then 30 years the Samurai Pizza Cats finally return! The Big Cheese has an evil Scheme up his sleeve and it’s up to you, the player, to stop him from taking over Little Tokyo!”

The announcement of the game coincides with the show’s 35th anniversary this month, and it was also announced that both the English and Japanese voice cast from the TV series are set to return for the game.

Originally broadcast in Japan as Kyatto Ninden Teyandee (Cat Ninja Legend Teyandee), the 54-episode anime was then brought to the West by Saban Entertainment, which also produced Americanized versions of other Japanese shows like Power Rangers and VR Troopers.
