Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic is coming to Switch next month
The compilation includes Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2
Atari has announced that Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic is coming to Switch next month.
Set for release on December 5 at a price of $24.99 / £22.49, the compilation contains Rollercoaster Tycoon and its sequel Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, which were originally released in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
Released on iOS and Android in 2016 then PC in 2017, Classic marks the first time the original games have been released on a Nintendo system.
Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic also includes the Toolkit, Wacky Worlds and Time Twister expansion packs previously released, making for a total of 95 scenarios across both titles.
“Fans of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic have been hoping for a Switch version and we are excited to bring it to the platform,” Atari’s VP of games publishing Ethan Stearns said in a statement.
“Our partners at Graphite Lab did an amazing job translating RCT Classic’s detailed keyboard-based controls to controller input.”
He added: “Bringing RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic to the Switch, with its massive install base, is an opportunity to re-engage lapsed players, provide active players with another great hardware platform, and reach a new generation of players who will now discover the franchise on the Switch.”
This is the latest in a series of events Atari has organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Rollercoaster Tycoon, including the release of Rollercoaster Tycoon merchandise on the Atari store and the re-release of Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic on Android.
It also acquired Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 from Frontier, which it says let it “reunite an important game with the franchise catalogue”.
