Roller Champions is getting a Jet Set Radio crossover
The event will begin on June 27
A Jet Set Radio event is coming to Roller Champions.
The event will see Beat and Gum from Sega‘s Dreamcast classic coming to the game, as well a new Jet Set Radio-themed stage.
The Jet Set Radio event will begin on June 27, Ubisoft has confirmed.
Jet Set Radio was originally released for the Dreamcast in 2000.
Its central mechanics focus on skating round cities, spraying graffiti on walls while escaping the police.
The game was praised at the time for being one of the first video games to use cel-shaded visuals, applying flat coloured textures to polygonal models to make the game look more like a cartoon or comic book.
Its soundtrack is also considered among the best in video game history, thanks to its numerous catchy jazz-funk tracks.
In April, footage emerged of what appears to be a Jet Set Radio remake.
The footage showed footage of an apparent Persona 3 remake, followed by early preview footage of Sonic Frontiers, then a brief five-second clip that appeared to show Beat from Jet Set Radio dancing. The video had text in the corner of the screen that reads “footage in development”.
A Persona 3 remake, named Persona 3 Reload, has now officially been confirmed, lending more credibility to the footage.
