Riot Games’ tactical shooter Valorant releases on June 2
Game was previously confirmed for summer 2020 launch
Riot Games has announced a June 2 release date for Valorant.
The firm revealed it was working on a competitive shooter, codenamed Project A, in October 2019, before officially unveiling Valorant this March.
The 5v5 character-based FPS, which is billed as “tactical shooter meets hypernatural powers”, then entered closed beta in April.
“Shooting in Valorant is precise, consequential, and highly-lethal – we want you to win on your skill and strategy alone,” Riot says.
“Everyone’s got guns and a unique set of abilities, so how do you beat someone with the speed of wind? Use your own moves to outplay them and beat them to the shot.
“Valorant is a game for bold strategists who dare to make the unexpected play, because if it wins, it works.”
Riot says Valorant players will benefit from 128-tick servers and a global spread of datacenters targeting under 35ms of ping in major cities.
It claims most minimum spec computers will play Valorant at 30 frames per second, while modern rigs will offer 60-144 FPS.
