Return to Monkey Island is coming to mobile this month
Players can pre-register for the iOS and Android release now
Devolver Digital has announced that Return to Monkey Island will be released for mobile on July 27.
Pre-registration is open now ahead of the game’s iOS and Android release at the end of the month.
Return to Monkey Island first released for PC, Mac and Nintendo Switch in September 2022.
A Linux version followed in October, ahead of the game’s release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S (including Game Pass) in November.
Return to Monkey Island is a follow up to the acclaimed adventure game series led by original writer and director Ron Gilbert.
Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox studio developed the game in collaboration with Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games.
Dave Grossman, co-writer and programmer on the original Monkey Island games, returned for the new title, alongside composers Michael Land, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian, and Dominic Armato as the voice of Guybrush.
Although Return to Monkey Island is technically the sixth game in the Monkey Island series, it’s only the third to be led by Gilbert and Grossman, and it has therefore been presented as a sequel to Monkey Island 2.
It was well received by reviewers, earning it Metacritic scores ranging from 86-87.
A month after its release, publisher Devolver claimed Return to Monkey Island was the fastest selling game in the series.
