Respawn is making a new single-player adventure set in a ‘unique universe’
The studio is staffing up for the project, which is in its “early stages”
Respawn has confirmed it’s developing a new single-player adventure game.
Promoting the title online, creative director Mohammad Alavi said the studio is staffing up for the project.
“We’re developing a brand new singleplayer adventure from Respawn Entertainment,” he wrote. “We’re a small, but ambitious team with a history of dreaming big and making splashes.”
The EA studio behind Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Apex Legends and Titanfall is on the lookout for a lead technical designer, senior technical game designer, senior combat designer, and senior level designer.
“This new singleplayer title is a designer’s dream playground with a freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits,” the job descriptions read.
Respawn confirmed in April that it was working on an original game project, after a job advert spotted in January stated that the studio was forming a small incubation team to develop “a brand new IP”.
The title is “in its early stages” and the successful candidates will “have a direct hand in shaping a new game from the ground up”, according to the job adverts.
It has been claimed that EA has warmed to the idea of publishing more single-player games following the success of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In June, EA said the game had been “played” by over 20 million people across all platforms and subscription services.
And on Thursday, EA officially announced that its Motive studio is working on a Dead Space remake.
Respawn is gearing up to launch Apex Legends Season 10, which is titled Emergence, on August 3. It will introduce new hero Seer, the Rampage LMG, an updated World’s Edge map, plus fresh ranked arenas.
