Death Island will be notable for Resident Evil fans because it will mark the first official time Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine will be seen working together.
Leon was playable in Resident Evil 2, 4 and 6, while Jill was playable in Resdient Evil 1, 3, 5 and Revelations.
While both characters are prolific throughout the series, then, they have never had a canonical on-screen encounter until now.
Resident Evil: Death Island is the fourth animated Resident Evil movie, and the fourth to feature Leon as a main protagonist.
The film will take place between the events of Resident Evil 6 and 7, and will be set after the third movie, Resident Evil: Vendetta.
According to a plot synopsis, the movie follows Leon as he attempts to rescue Dr Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a “mysterious woman” prevents him.
At the same time, Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco.
As well as the first Leon / Jill pairing, Death Island will also see brother and sister Chris and Claire Redfield teaming up again.
