Resident Evil 3’s 2020 remake could be coming to Nintendo Switch
‘Cloud Version’ cover found on streaming site
Resident Evil 3 could be the next title to come to Nintendo Switch via cloud streaming.
On Wednesday Nintendo announced a pair of cloud titles would be coming to the console including Remedy’s Control and Hitman 3, with the former available on the eShop immediately.
As discovered by users on Resetera, the website used to stream Control to Switch also reportedly hosts cover art for ‘Resident Evil 3 Cloud Version’, suggesting that the Capcom title could be lined up as a future Switch release.
References to a Switch version of Resident Evil 3 were reportedly found within the files of the game’s pre-release demo earlier this year.
At the time, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad claimed that Capcom was exploring a version of the game for Nintendo’s platform.
Nintendo has previously released cloud versions of games such as Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in Japan, but this is the first time that streaming titles have been made available in the West.
The cloud verion of Control is available on the Nintendo eShop now and requires “a stable and permanent internet connection” in order to play it.
Players are required to download a free launcher application, after which they’ll need to test the game for a limited amount of time before purchasing an “Access Pass” for $39.99 / £34.99.
The cloud version of the game features an Enhanced Graphics mode at 30fps with ray tracing on or Enhanced Performance mode at 60fps with ray tracing off, according to publisher 505.
