Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 saves will transfer to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions

Capcom has confirmed new details about the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes.

The publisher announced earlier this month that the games will be released for new-gen consoles later this year and be free for existing owners.

And it said on Tuesday that save data and some DLC will carry over from PS4 and Xbox One to their respective upgraded versions.

This includes the DLC that comes with Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition: Banned Footage Vol. 1 and 2, the End of Zoe epilogue episode, and the free Not a Hero DLC.

Free upgrade patches for the PC versions of all three games will also be released when the titles arrive for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

VGC reported in 2020 that Capcom had greenlit a Resident Evil 4 remake following the success of the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes.

Development was originally being led by M-Two, a new studio we revealed had been founded by former PlatinumGames head Tatsuya Minami.

However, by 2021 M-Two had seen its role significantly reduced on the unannounced project and mainline Resident Evil studio Capcom Division 1 had been drafted in to steer the game in a different direction.

The Resident Evil 4 remake will reportedly be revealed this year and will make some changes to the setting of the original game.
