Remastered From Software mech shooter dated
Metal Wolf Chaos XD hits consoles and PC this summer
Devolver Digital has announced an August 6 release date for Metal Wolf Chaos XD.
The upcoming PS4, Xbox One and PC game is a remaster of From Software’s 2004 release Metal Wolf Chaos, which was previously only available on the original Xbox in Japan.
It’s an over the top third person shooter in which you play as the US president battling a coup led by your deputy and his mech army.
According to the official blurb: “As the 47th President of the United States, it is your sworn duty to take your country back by any means necessary and end this unjust coup d’etat! Battle in your advanced mech – armed to the teeth – across iconic American landscapes including the Brooklyn Bridge, the Grand Canyon, and the front steps of the White House.”
Development has been handled by porting house General Arcade, which partnered with Devolver and From Software to modernise the game with “upgraded visual fidelity, refined controls and gameplay, a new save system, and 4K + 16:9 support for modern displays”.
From Software’s latest title, fantasy action-RPG Elden Ring, was announced at E3 2019.
Set a world created in collaboration with A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin, director Hidetaka Miyazaki has said the game represents “an evolution” of the Dark Souls series.
