The final update for Redfall has been released, adding a long-promised offline mode.

There had been suggestions that the update wouldn’t be released after Microsoft recently announced plans to close Arkane Austin,  the studio behind Redfall.

However, Arkane confirmed earlier this month that Update 4 would still be coming to the game at some point in the future.

That moment has now arrived, and Update 4 is available now on PC and Xbox.

The final update adds the ability to play the game offline, something Arkane Austin said it was looking into before the game was released, when it was revealed that it required a permanent online connection.

It also adds the ability to pause the game in single-player mode. “Now if you need some time to adjust your kit, or you just need to step away for a minute, the world of Redfall will wait with you,” Arkane says.

A new reputation bar called Community Standing has also been added, in which players can build their rank by completing Safehouse missions, rescuing civilians and killing Underbosses, which unlock up to 39 permanent buffs.

Finally, the update adds new boss-focused Nests which include “dangerously modified special vampires”.

“We’re proud to deliver to you Redfall’s Game Update 4,” the studio said in a statement on its blog.

“We’re thankful for the millions of players who have joined us. From everyone at Arkane Austin, thank you for playing our games and loving our worlds, it’s been an honor to deliver these experiences to you.”
