According to its website, Gobo has also worked as a co-developer on Redfall, Hogwarts Legacy, Disney Infinity and For Honor, among other games.
The directors of the company, which has over 110 employees, originally co-founded and ran Black Rock Studio, the outfit behind racing games Pure and Split/Second.
Guerrilla revealed in December that it was planning to “expand the world of Horizon” with an online co-op project “featuring a new cast of characters and a unique stylized look”.
At the same time, it said it would continue to make “epic solo adventures” starring series protagonist Aloy.
The franchise launched in 2017 with Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel Horizon Forbidden West followed in 2022.
Prior to the sequel’s announcement, VGC exclusively reported that Sony was planning a trilogy of Horizon games.
Horizon Call of the Mountain will be a PlayStation VR2 launch title in February 2023, and Horizon Forbidden West‘s first expansion, Burning Shores, will be released in April.
A Horizon Zero Dawn remaster for PS5 is also reportedly in development, while it’s been claimed that Lineage and Guild Wars studio NCSoft has struck a deal with Sony to make a Horizon MMORPG.
Sony is also working with Netflix on a TV adaptation of Horizon.
