Studio Gobo has announced that it’s partnered with Guerrilla Games to work as a co-developer on Sony’s Horizon franchise.

The Brighton and Hove, UK-based studio is currently recruiting staff to work on its Horizon team, as well as other projects.

“We’re thrilled to share that Studio Gobo is now a Guerrilla co-development partner on the Horizon universe,” it said on Thursday.

According to its website, Gobo has also worked as a co-developer on Redfall, Hogwarts Legacy, Disney Infinity and For Honor, among other games.

The directors of the company, which has over 110 employees, originally co-founded and ran Black Rock Studio, the outfit behind racing games Pure and Split/Second.

Guerrilla revealed in December that it was planning to “expand the world of Horizon” with an online co-op project “featuring a new cast of characters and a unique stylized look”.

At the same time, it said it would continue to make “epic solo adventures” starring series protagonist Aloy.

The franchise launched in 2017 with Horizon Zero Dawn and its sequel Horizon Forbidden West followed in 2022.

Prior to the sequel’s announcement, VGC exclusively reported that Sony was planning a trilogy of Horizon games.

Horizon Call of the Mountain will be a PlayStation VR2 launch title in February 2023, and Horizon Forbidden West‘s first expansion, Burning Shores, will be released in April.

Sony is also working with Netflix on a TV adaptation of Horizon.
