Red Dead Redemption 2 is replacing GTA V on Xbox Games Pass

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be added to the Xbox Game Pass console library on May 7.

Rockstar’s latest blockbuster release will replace the studio’s previous one, Grand Theft Auto V, which will leave Microsoft’s subscription service on the same day.

Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two said in February that GTA V had shipped 120 million copies since its September 2013 release, while Red Dead Redemption 2 had shipped 29 million copies since releasing in October 2018.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is Rockstar’s next game but remains early in development, according to a recent report into working practices at the company.

Microsoft recently announced the latest wave of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass for console and PC. Yakuza Kiwami (console) joined the service this week, ahead of Deliver Us The Moon (console and PC) today, Gears Tactics (PC) on April 28, and HyperDot and Levelhead (console and PC) on April 30.

Game Pass titles released earlier in April include Journey to the Savage Planet (console) and Football Manager 2020 (PC).

Microsoft said in late March that Xbox Live and Game Pass have seen record usage as citizens across the globe practice social distancing to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.
