Red Dead Online’s September update will introduce specialist roles
Play as a bounty hunter, collector or trader
Rockstar has announced that the next major update for Red Dead Redemption 2’s online multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, will launch on Tuesday September 10.
As previously confirmed, the update will introduce specialist roles called Frontier Pursuits, “delivering a wide array of themed activities that each offer unique items, skills and more” as you rank up.
Players can track down wanted criminals as a bounty hunter, search the world for treasure and other exotic items as a collector, or build a business as a trader.
Rockstar plans to introduce further specialist roles to the game in the future.
The update also includes “a vast assortment of new features” and improvements including free roam events that unlock as you progress through specialist roles, additional stable and custom outfit slots, improved jewellery selling prices, lootable containers in ambient wagons, and weapons rebalancing to reduce reliance on headshots in PvP.
Rockstar says: “In addition to the first three new Roles comes dramatic improvements to player control with quicker and more responsive movement across all phases of combat and locomotion; the ability to redesign your character’s appearance without resetting progress; greater damage resistance while in the Defensive playing style; new Ability Cards; new Daily Challenges and Daily Role Challenges; more Dynamic Events happening across the frontier; a slew of new items and much more.”
Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped over 25 million units worldwide since its PS4 and Xbox One release in October 2018, according to publisher Take-Two.
In June, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick gave the clearest indication yet that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on PC.
