Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a PS5 exclusive, Insomniac reiterates
Upcoming title won’t be coming to PS4
Insomniac Games has reiterated that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5.
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the game for PS5 in June, when it said it would be released during the console’s launch window.
During the same event Sony also announced Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West and Sackboy: A Big Adventure for PS5, although it later confirmed these games would be released for PS4 too.
Insomniac seemingly ruled out a PS4 release for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart via Twitter on Monday.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is an “interdimensional adventure” that uses the PS5’s SSD to rapidly transport players between different locations.
Insomniac creative director Marcus Smith has also claimed that the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on PS5’s DualSense controller will make “each weapon in Ratchet’s out-of-this-world arsenal feel unique and more powerful than ever”. For example, the double barrel Enforcer shotgun has multiple fire modes, enabling players to fire single or double shots depending on how hard they squeeze the trigger.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be playable at 30fps at 4K resolution and at 60fps at a lower resolution.
Insomniac premiered a seven-minute Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay demo during Gamescom in August.
