Sony Interactive Entertainment has released a new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay trailer ahead of a larger showing planned for this Thursday.

The new trailer introduces Rivet, “a Lombax resistance fighter from another dimension”.

Sony will stream a new State of Play presentation on April 29 at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm BST, featuring more than 15 minutes of fresh gameplay from Insomniac’s PS5 exclusive, “plus updates on a pair of upcoming indie titles”.

“Rivet is a Lombax resistance fighter from another dimension, where organic life is hunted by the evil Emperor Nefarious,” Insomniac creative director Marcus Smith wrote in a PlayStation Blog post accompanying the new trailer.

“You saw brand-new locations like Nefarious City, and alternate-dimension twists on old favorites like Sargasso and Torren IV along with a sneak-peak at some new weapons and gameplay mechanics.”

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is scheduled for release on June 11, 2021. The standard version of the game costs $69.99 / £69.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition is priced at $79.99 / £79.99.

The latter comes with the base game plus five additional armour sets, 20 Raritanium to put towards upgrading weapons, a sticker pack to use in the game’s photo mode, a digital artbook and a digital soundtrack.

The armour sets were revealed on Monday. “The Imperial, Scavenger, Android, Rebel, and Hacker suits all give you some distinct cosmetic looks to play with and mix-and-match as you play and take photos in Ratchet & Clank’s first ever photo mode,” Smith said.

Pre-order customers will receive two bonuses which won’t be made available to other players: visually updated versions of the Carbonox armor from 2003’s Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando and the retro-blaster Pixelizer from 2016’s Ratchet & Clank.

Customers who pre-order the game from the PlayStation Store will automatically receive these bonuses. Customers who purchase the title from elsewhere will need to check if the store is offering the pre-order incentive or not.
