Raccoon Logic officially announces Revenge of the Savage Planet
The sequel to the 2020 first-person adventure will be fully revealed tomorrow
Raccoon Logic has announced the sequel to 2020 first-person adventure, Journey to the Savage Planet, Revenge of the Savage Planet
Announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, a teaser trailer revealed that the sequel will feature single-player, online co-op, crossplay, and split screen modes.
“In a future knocked off its axis by corporate greed and stupidity, you have been made redundant and abandoned on the far edge of space with little gear and no safety net,” reads a synopsis on the game’s new Steam page.
“You must explore every nook and cranny, collect dozens of upgrades, and turn over every mysterious alien rock if you want to get revenge on your former employer and return to Earth.
“Across multiple planets and through myriad challenges, you will be tasked with exploring and understanding these beautiful alien worlds. There are plants to scan, creatures to capture, lakes to swim, caves to spelunk, mountains to climb, upgrades to craft, and hundreds of secrets to uncover…”
According to the Steam page, Revenge of the Savage Planet will feature dynamic co-op, new abilities and tools, four planets to explore, and a roster of creatures, plants and secrets to discover.
A full gameplay reveal will take place on the Xbox Gamescom livestream tomorrow, Wednesday, August 21.
Released in 2020, Journey to the Savage Planet was developed by Typhoon Studios and directed by Hutchinson, who was previously creative director on Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 3 and Far Cry 4, and lead designer on EA‘s Spore.
While the studio was closed by parent company Google the following year, the core talent from Typhoon reformed as Montreal-based Raccoon Logic, which regained the rights to the Savage Planet IP.
Last year, Hutchinson and Raccoon Logic co-founder Reid Schneider told GamesIndustry.biz the studio was 100% focused on the next Savage Planet game.
