Quantic Dream’s next indie release, the Hades-like Lysfanga, will be released in February
The time-shifting hack and slash game is the latest in the publisher’s Spotlight label
Quantic Dream has announced the release date for its next indie title, Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior.
The hack ‘n’ slash game, which is the debut offering from French developer Sand Door Studio, will be released on February 13 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The game’s normal price will be $24.99 / €24.99 but during the game’s first week of release it will be discounted to $19.99 / €19.99.
Lysfanga follows Ime, a protector of the realm who’s been given powers by the Goddess of Time.
Its hack and slash gameplay features tactical elements, as players rewind time and create duplicates of Ime, eventually building a small army who head in different directions to perform multiple actions at once.
VGC’s hands-on preview of Lysfanga from last year praised the game’s tactical gameplay, saying “it’s what you’d get if you took Hades and added a mechanic not unlike multi-track music recording”.
“By the end of our demo we were already sold on Lysfanga,” we wrote. “Our heads may have been throbbing, but the idea of playing a co-op Hades-like where you control all of the protagonists one by one is executed brilliantly, and the addition of time trials – designed to make players optimise their run to find the best possible solution out of countless possible ones – just makes it all the more compelling.”
Quantic Dream officially announced its Spotlight indie label in June 2023. The Paris-based company behind such narrative games as Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls is using the label to support and publish third-party games made outside its own studio.
The first entirely new game released under the Spotlight label was Under the Waves, a diving adventure described as “an emotional adventure that handles distressing subject matter in a touching way” in VGC’s review.
