PUBG’s futuristic mobile sequel New State launches in November
Battle royale follow-up is set in 2051 and includes four maps
The sequel to PUBG: Battlegrounds, PUBG: New State, will be released for Android and iOS devices on November 11.
Developed by PUBG Studios, the same company that made Battlegrounds for PC and consoles, the free-to-play, season-based service game will launch in 200 countries and be available in 17 languages.
According to Krafton, over 50 million mobile users pre-registered their interest in the futuristic battle royale title. It’s set in 2051 and will have four maps at launch, including Troi and the franchise’s original battleground, Erangel.
The publisher announced the game’s release date and showed off various features during a 50-minute media presentation on Friday, which is embedded below.
It said key features include a gunplay system “on par with what’s found in the PC version” of PUBG, a focus on weapon customisation, “a unique player recruitment system”, and the game’s Drone store marketplace.
A final technical test for the game will be held from October 29-30 in 28 countries across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
It’s been claimed that a PUBG sequel is also headed to consoles and PC in 2022.
The Callisto Protocol, a survival horror game set in the PUBG universe, is scheduled for release next year too.
