Update: pair of titles announced in Connect presentation

PUBG and Octopath Traveler rated for Stadia ahead of today’s live stream

PUBG and Octopath Traveler have been rated for Stadia, ahead of the streaming platform’s upcoming news presentation later today.

The latest Stadia Connect presentation will be held on YouTube at 9am PT / 5pm BST and allow viewers to “hear from the team and see a few new games coming to Stadia.”

A new ESRB listing for Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds suggests the battle royale title could be one of today’s announcements.

Update: PUBG and Octopath Traveler were announced during the Stadia Connect event and both are now available for the cloud gaming platform. The battle royale title supports cross-platform play and is free with Stadia Pro.

Original story continues: Stadia could potentially introduce compelling features to PUBG, including an increase in player count and the virtual elimination of cheating.

Square Enix RPG Octopath Travel originally released for Nintendo Switch in 2018, followed by PC via Steam in June 2019.

The title’s turn-based gameplay would appear ideally suited for a streaming platform where latency can make or break the experience.

Stadia enjoyed a boost in popularity this month, on the back of a Google promotion which offered users a free two-month subscription to the Stadia Pro service.

According to Sensor Tower data issued to VGC’s network partner GamesIndustry.biz, mobile installs of the Stadia app cleared the one million milestone in April.

The week the Stadia Pro promotion was introduced (April 6), mobile installs across both iOS and Android exceeded 225,000, it’s claimed.
