PS5’s global launch advert invites players to explore new worlds
“Play has no limits”
Sony Interactive Entertainment has released PlayStation 5’s global launch advert.
Narrated by the company’s new strategic creative partner, the rapper Travis Scott, the ad is themed around pushing the frontiers of exploration.
“For launch, our goal has always been to create a spot that feels epic and iconic; a spot that truly celebrates our desire to push the boundaries of what is possible and evokes the excitement that you will have through the unique experiences made possible with PlayStation 5,” says PlayStation’s worldwide marketing SVP Eric Lempel.
“There is a desire in all of us to explore and discover new possibilities, whether it’s in gaming, or in our everyday lives. We all want to go to places we’ve never been, see what’s never been seen. We tell the story by paying homage to explorers of the past who stood on the threshold of the unknown and pushed past their limits to achieve the extraordinary.”
The PS5 release date is November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, with the rest of the world getting the console on November 19.
PS5 is priced at $500/€500/£450 for the standard edition and $400/€400/£360 for the Digital Edition, with the only difference between them being the former’s inclusion of a disc drive.
An embargo on PS5 coverage lifted on Tuesday, when the first PS5 unboxing videos were published by various media outlets, who were also finally able to compare the size of retail PS5 units to other consoles.
