Professional tennis players put PlayStation VR2 title C-Smash VRS to the test
The reimagining of Sega’s arcade and Dreamcast classic Cosmic Smash will be released next month
RapidEyeMovers has released a new trailer for its upcoming PlayStation VR2 game C-Smash VRS.
Viewable below, it sees tennis and touchtennis professionals Adam Hassan and Matt Golledge giving their impressions of the game, which reimagines Sega‘s arcade and Dreamcast classic Cosmic Smash for single and two-player PS5 VR gameplay.
Set for release in on June 23, C-Smash VRS combines sport and puzzle gameplay and features original tracks by Japanese DJ Ken Ishii (Rez Infinite) and synthesiser player and record producer Danalogue (front man of The Comet is Coming and Soccer 96).
It’s being developed by British VR specialist Wolf & Wood (The Last Worker, The Exorcist: Legion VR, A Chair in a Room: Greenwater, Hotel R’n’R) and published by RapidEyeMovers, a new London-based production studio.
The new trailer is the second in a series of videos that sees real athletes putting the game to the test, following another released last month that featured professional England squash player and Commonwealth Games winner Gina Kennedy.
“Combining a low-gravity form of Squash with timed block-breaking challenges, C-Smash VRS brings together the very best of racket sports and timeless action puzzle gameplay,” according to the game’s official announcement.
“Dashing and ducking from one side to the other and performing intense shots and trick smashes, players can use all walls as they journey through dozens of levels of fun and fitness.
“Players can either play alone or forge a cosmic connection with a friend, exploring a variety of online versus and co-op modes.”
