Predator: Hunting Grounds studio IllFonic confirms layoffs
Indie developer IllFonic has made staff cuts across its studios
Indie studio IllFonic has announced that it’s made an unspecified number of layoffs.
In a statement posted on X, IllFonic CEO and co-founder Charles Brungardt said “the state of the industry” meant the company needed to be “re-aligned to a refined strategy”.
Founded in 2007, the Predator: Hunting Grounds and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed developer has studios in Lakewood, Colorado and Tacoma, Washington.
“Today we had to accept the harsh reality that the state of the industry has impacted us here at IllFonic,” said Brungardt.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that cuts to our teams had to be made today as we re-aligned to a refined strategy.
Myself and others were impacted by this today. If you need a Sr. Social Media / Community Manager let me know. 💔 https://t.co/KHA4c9DU4u

“There is a lot of talent in this group and if you or your team is hiring, please reach out so people can be connected to open roles.”
IllFonic’s past titles and collaborations also include Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game, Arcadegeddon, Friday the 13th: The Game, Dead Alliance, Star Citizen, Evolve, Armored Warfare, and Nexuiz.
Game developer Farhan Noor, who has been tracking job cuts dating back to the start of 2022 on videogameslayoffs.com, estimates that around 14,000 games industry employees have been laid off this year, following Monday’s news that Ubisoft is shutting down its studios in San Francisco and Osaka, Japan, and downsizing in Sydney, Australia.
