Potential Assassin’s Creed Red character art appears online
Assassin’s Creed red will take place in Japan
Potential art for Assassin’s Creed Red has seemingly appeared on the LinkedIn profile of one of the game’s writers.
The image, which at the time of writing appears on the profile of writer Pierre Boudreau, appears to show what could be the player character from Assassin’s Creed Red. The character, who is standing in front of a Japanese castle, is wearing the trademark Assassin’s cowl.
If legitimate, this is the first image we’ve seen from Assassin’s Creed Red since the teaser confirming the existence of the upcoming game.
Ubisoft revealed the future roadmap for the Assassin’s Creed franchise last September, when it announced Codename Red as one of six upcoming series entries.
It said the next two flagship games after this year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, codenamed Red and Hexe, would be released as part of the new Infinity franchise hub, the live service initiative announced in 2021.
Red, which is being made by Odyssey developer Ubisoft Quebec and has the same creative director, will begin what Ubisoft is calling “period three” in the Assassin’s Creed series, which has sold over 200 million copies since it launched in 2007, according to its publisher.
“We’ll announce the dates a bit later on, but we wanted to mark a change technologically and gameplay-wise as we’re moving to a fully next-gen – or current gen, I guess we call it – with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X,” series boss Marc-Alexis Cote told VGC in a future Assassin’s Creed games interview at the time.
