Port specialist Virtuos may have been working on Until Dawn’s reported PC and PS5 versions
A former employee’s LinkedIn page suggests the Metal Gear Solid Delta studio is responsible
Remaster and port specialist Virtuos may have been involved in the development of the reported PC and PS5 ports of Until Dawn.
As spotted on Reddit by user KekanKok, a former animator at Virtuos has listed the game as one of the projects he worked on at his time there.
Nacri Lu, who’s currently an animation diurector at Offworld Industries, lists Virtuos as his employer between October 2018 and March 2020, during which time he worked with the animation department.
According to Lu, one of the projects he worked on during this period was Until Dawn, which he lists as a “PC/Console game”. Given that Until Dawn was released on PS4 in 2015, this suggests Lu was working on different versions of the game.
Highly reliable dataminer billbil-kun claimed last week that Until Dawn is coming to PS5 and PC, and that they expected an announcement within the next 15 days.
Sony subsequently announced a new State of Play presentation for January 31, making it likely that the ports will be announced during this.
Until Dawn is an interactive horror game in which eight friends fight for survival after they return to an isolated mountain lodge where two of their group disappeared a year earlier.
Starring Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere, it features a branching narrative in which the player’s choices determine the fate of the characters, all of whom can live or die.
A film adaptation of Until Dawn helmed by Annabelle: Creation, Shazam! and Lights Out director David F. Sandberg was announced last week.
Virtuos has also been working as a co-developer on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, an upcoming PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC remake of Metal Gear Solid 3.
