Pokemon TCG Pocket’s second expansion and trading feature have release dates

The Pokémon Company has confirmed the release date of the second full expansion for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket.

The Space-Time Smackdown expansion will be released on January 30 and features two separate types of booster pack featuring Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia.

The expansion will add a number of new cards and illustrations to Pokémon TCG Pocket, with some Pokémon appearing for the first time in the app including Lucario, Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup.

The game’s much-awaited trade feature will be released the day before on January 29, allowing players to trade their cards with others.

In order to trade cards, players will need to make use of two new items – trade tokens and trade hourglasses. They can only trade cards with a rarity of 1-4 diamonds or 1 star, and trades have to be the same rarity.

When the trading feature is released it will initially be limited to certain cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythical Island sets. The Pokémon Company says it plans to increase the list of tradeable cards in the future.

Pokémon TCG Pocket was released in late October 2024 and got off to an impressive start, reportedly passing $120 million dollars in earnings in its first two weeks.

The mobile game, which was developed by The Pokemon Company and DENA, allows players to virtually collect Pokémon cards, as well as battle them against other players.
