A Japanese player has hit the maximum spending limit on Pokémon TCG Pocket every day since launch, at a cost of around $8,500.

YouTuber Hajimesyacho posted a screenshot on X showing that he had managed to collect 50,000 cards in the game.

“I’ve been paying the maximum amount every day since the release date and have achieved 50,000 cards,” he wrote (as spotted by Automaton).

Although Pokémon TCG Pocket is free-to-play, with a number of free packs given to players every day, players can buy more packs of cards with Poké Gold, which is bought with real money.

To ensure players (especially children) don’t rack up enormous debts buying Poké Gold, the game imposes a limit of 720 Poké Gold per day, preventing players from spending any more.

The standard price for Poké Gold is $100 for 690 Gold, $40 for 250 Gold, $20 for 120 Gold, $10 for 57 Gold, $5 for 26 Gold and $1 for 5 Gold.

In order to have spent the full limit of 720 Poké Gold in the 82 days between the game’s release and Hajimesyacho’s post, he would have had to buy a total of 54,040 Poké Gold.

Not counting any sales events, then, the cheapest possible total price for that much Poké Gold would be $8,565.

Pokémon TCG Pocket was released in late October 2024 and got off to an impressive start, reportedly passing $120 million dollars in earnings in its first two weeks.

The mobile game, which was developed by The Pokemon Company and DENA, allows players to virtually collect Pokémon cards, as well as battle them against other players.

A roadmap for the game released in November suggested that trading, one of the most requested features, will soon be added to the game.
