Pokémon TCG Pocket has passed 100 million downloads
Ranked matches are coming soon to the virtual card battler
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has passed 100 million downloads, according to The Pokémon Company.
Pokémon TCG Pocket was released in late October 2024 and got off to an impressive start, reportedly passing $120 million dollars in earnings in its first two weeks.
Now, the game, which lets players collect virtual cards and trade them with friends, has hit another impressive milestone: 100 million downloads.
This week, a new special expansion, Triumphant Light, was released. This set prominently features the Pokémon Arceus, who debuted in Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl on the Nintendo DS.
“We would like to announce that Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket has reached over 100 million downloads worldwide,” said Pokémon TCG Pocket developer Dena. “Thank you to everyone who has tried out our game.”
Dena also reaffirmed that ranked matches, a feature that has been highly requested since the app was introduced, will be added to the game soon.
“We are continuing to develop and operate the game so that everyone can enjoy it even more, and we plan to add Ranked Matches as well as continue adding more booster packs and holding a variety of events going forward.”
The Pokémon Company has said it has no plans to add Pokémon TCG Pocket to the roster of competitive Pokémon games.
“We’re always looking at different titles,” said Chris Brown, The Pokemon Company director of global esports, during an interview with VGC.
“Pokemon Sleep is out there too,” said Brown, laughing. Last April, The Pokemon Company released a parody trailer for the Pokemon Sleep Champion Tournament to celebrate April Fool’s Day.
“But at this time there are no plans for Pokemon Pocket to join, but we’re always looking at things.”
