Pokémon Nintendo Direct broadcast announced
Live stream presentation scheduled for Thursday
Nintendo is to host a Pokémon Nintendo Direct broadcast on Thursday January 9.
The online presentation will kick off at 6.30am PT / 9.30am ET / 2.30pm UK / 3.30pm CET and promises roughly 20 minutes of new Pokémon information.
The broadcast will be viewable on the Nintendo Direct website or Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
The Pokémon Company is currently working on several titles for Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS, including a sequel to 2016’s Detective Pikachu.
Announced in May 2020, the new Detective Pikachu game will continue the story of the original 3DS title. It’s in development for Switch at Pokémon series collaborator Creatures Inc.
Also coming to Nintendo Switch and smartphones is Pokémon Home, a new cloud service app that will enable players to manage their Pokémon collection across multiple games.
Home connects with Pokémon Bank, as well as Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, Pokémon Go, and Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, which broke Switch launch records in November with six million combined sales in their first week of availability.
Meanwhile, Pokémon Sleep is a mobile app which is said to “turn sleeping into entertainment” by having a player’s time spent sleeping and the time they wake up impact gameplay.
It will launch in 2020 with a new peripheral, Pokémon Go Plus +, which includes an embedded accelerometer to track sleeping and send information to smartphones via Bluetooth. This new device also has the same functions as the original Pokémon Go Plus.
