PlayStation Showcase live stream: Watch it here
The 40-minute presentation will show PS5 games releasing “this holiday and beyond”
The next PlayStation Showcase live stream begins at 1pm PDT / 9pm BST today, and you can watch it via the video embed on this page.
The 40-minute event will show games planned for holiday 2021 and next year.
“The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond,” an announcement on the PlayStation Blog read last week.
“And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase.”
Sony has been regularly hosting State of Play presentations, giving players updates on upcoming games and products.
This is the first time, however, that it has hosted a PlayStation Showcase event since September 2020, when the PS5 price and release date were officially confirmed.
This suggests that today’s Showcase will have more high profile announcements than those usually made during the State of Play presentations.
God of War creator and Twisted Metal co-creator David Jaffe claimed in a video stream on Friday that he’d heard that PlayStation’s first-party studios would “be there with flying colours” during the event.
In a separate tweet, Jaffe claimed that one possible PlayStation game announcement was “bad ass” and “people are gonna lose their f**king minds”.
What won’t be announced, however, is any information on the PS5 successor to PlayStation VR, as Sony has confirmed that it will not make an appearance during the Showcase.
“One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time,” the announcement says. “But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small.”
