PlayStation premieres new God of War Ragnarok trailer, special edition controller
Some of the game’s new realms were also revealed in the trailer
A new God of War Ragnarok trailer has been revealed during PlayStation‘s September State of Play.
The trailer also showed off several of the game’s new realms and concluded with a brief clip of Kratos fighting Thor.
A new special edition DualSense controller was also revealed.
“Witness the changing dynamic of their relationship as they prepare for war; Atreus hungers for knowledge to help him grasp the prophecy of “Loki”, as Kratos struggles to free himself from the past and be the father his son needs. All the while, the eyes of Asgard watch their every move,” reads a description for the game that accompanied the new trailer.
The trailer showed Kratos and Atreus exploring the realms in the shadow of Ragnarok, as Atreus contends with his destiny. Freya, Odin and Thor also make brief appearances, as do short clips of the pair travelling through various realms.
“Inspired by the Norse world of Midgard with its unique two-tone design of cool blue on icy white, embellished with bear and wolf insignia – representing Kratos and Atreus,” reads the controller’s description.
When and where the new controller will be available for sale is unknown, although it’s likely to be through PlayStation’s own PlayStation Direct service.
This marks the first special edition DualSense controller themed after a specific game.
A recent God of War Ragnarök gameplay video offered the first look at the dwarven realm Svartalfheim.
Publisher Sony recently announced a God of War Ragnarök release date of November 9, 2022, alongside four editions of the game.
The title was originally planned for release last year, but Sony delayed it to 2022 to help Santa Monica Studio deliver “a top-quality game while maintaining the safety and wellbeing” of its team.
