PlayStation Plus looks set to add classic Tekken and Soulcalibur games

The Taiwanese ratings board has seemingly revealed the identity of two upcoming PlayStation Plus Classics titles.

As spotted by Gematsu, the country’s classification body has rated Bandai Namco fighters Tekken 6 and Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

The former was released for PS3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable in 2009, while the latter was released for Sony’s handheld in the same year.

It’s assumed that the new ratings mean the games will be released as part of the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalogue. This library of games, which includes hundreds of titles from the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PSP, is available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers.

Tekken 8 was announced last year and is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game’s character roster appeared to have been partially leaked via a closed network test last month.

2018’s Soulcalibur 6 was the last entry in the series, and Bandai Namco hasn’t revealed plans for a potential successor. Its predecessor was delisted from digital stores in June.

August’s PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue and Classics titles were made available to subscribers on Tuesday.

Unlike August’s PlayStation Plus Essential games, Game Catalogue’s downloadable PS4 and PS5 titles are only available for Extra and Premium tier members.

This month’s new releases include Lost Judgment, Sea of Stars, Cursed to Golf and Moving Out 2. August’s additions to the Classics Catalogue were MediEvil: Resurrection, Ape Escape: On the Loose and Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice.
