PlayStation Days of Play 2021 starts next week, players can sign up now
New avatars and PS4 themes are available if the community hits certain targets
Sony has revealed the first details of this year’s Days of Play event, and this time players can sign up to unlock new avatars and PS4 themes.
The PlayStation Player Celebration will be part of Days of Play 2021, and involves a multi-stage competition in which players have to play as many games and earn as many trophies as possible.
Once players have signed up for the event, any game they play for more than an hour and any trophy they collect will be added to a cumulative total. If all players’ combined total hits a certain milestone they’ll unlock new PSN avatars and PS4 dynamic themes.
If all targets and bonus targets are reached, players will earn a total of 17 new avatars and 3 dynamic themes.
The dates and targets are:
Stage 1 – May 18, 00:00 – May 24, 23:59 PDT
- Goal – 2.4 million games, 7.2 million trophies – 1 avatar, 1 theme
- Bonus goal – 3 million games, 8.8 million trophies – 3 avatars
Stage 2 – May 25, 00:00 – May 31, 23:59 PDT
- Goal – 2.9 million games, 8.5 million trophies – 5 avatars
- Bonus goal – 3.6 million games, 10.4 million trophies – 3 avatars
Stage 3 – June 1, 00:00 – June 7, 23:59 PDT
- Goal – 3 million games, 9 million trophies – 1 avatar, 1 theme
- Bonus goal – 3.7 million games, 11 million trophies – 3 avatars
If every goal is reached, players who took part in all three stages will get an extra avatar and dynamic theme. Targets are reset each week.
Sony stated on the official PlayStation Blog that there will also be a Days of Play sale on the PlayStation store later this month, as well as a free multiplayer weekend.
