UPDATE: Sony confirms State of Play this week
Sony could hold a PlayStation State of Play event as soon as this week, it’s claimed.
That’s according to multiple sources, led by XboxEra’s Nick Baker, who suggested this week that a live stream could take place “roughly” on January 31, and feature Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill 2 and other games.
Eurogamer also claims to have heard a State of Play is taking place soon, and prolific leaker Billbil-Kun claimed last week that we’ll soon see more of Death Stranding 2, and today claimed the same about its new space IP, Concord.
Update
Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed it will stream a new State of Play presentation on Wednesday, January 31.
Kicking off at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT and lasting for about 40 minutes, the show will cover over 15 upcoming games.
Baker also claimed that BioShock creator Ken Levine will premier the next look at his original IP, Judas, during the PlayStation event, and that there will also be new looks at a Sonic title and Until Dawn remaster.
Sony Interactive Entertainment is reportedly planning to bring Until Dawn to PS5 and PC.
PlayStation’s last State of Play event was held in October, when it showed looks at Spider-Man 2, Foamstars, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Sony’s first-party games line-up for 2024 currently includes Team Ninja’s Rise of the Ronin, and Helldivers 2.
If Sony does hold a State of Play this week, it will follow hot on the heels of Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct, where it debuted the first look at its Indiana Jones game, as well as new looks at Avowed, Visions of Mana and Others.
Historically, Nintendo has also regularly held its own Nintendo Direct livestream in February to show its line-up for the year.
