Playdate is back in stock and is now shipping to 22 new countries

Panic has announced that its Playdate handheld is back in stock and available to purchase “for a limited time”.

Playdate launched in April 2022 and has now sold 70,000 units, according to the company, which is up from 53,000 it reported after the device’s first year of availability.

“Today, after a lot of hard work and logistics, Panic is thrilled to announce that they have caught up to all Playdate pre-orders”, the company said on Tuesday.

The Untitled Goose Game and Firewatch publisher also announced that it’s now shipping the console to 22 additional countries:

  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Cyprus
  • Czech Republic
  • Estonia
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong
  • Hungary
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Luxembourg
  • Malaysia
  • Malta
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Romania
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • Slovenia
  • South Korea
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland

Panic estimates that US Playdate orders will take around a week to arrive, with international orders taking two to four weeks.

The company increased the Playdate price by $20 to $199 last April due to rising manufacturing costs.

News of the planned price increase was delivered alongside the launch of an on-device digital store for Playdate called ‘Catalog’. Having debuted with 16 games and apps, it now houses over 120 titles, according to Panic.

The company also said it plans to host a new edition of Playdate Update, a digital showcase for upcoming Playdate software, in the near future.
