Play Call of Duty Modern Warfare multiplayer free this weekend
Trial can be accessed through free-to-play title Warzone
Activision has announced a free Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer weekend.
It offers access to a limited portion of Modern Warfare’s multiplayer component, which is accessible through free-to-play game Call of Duty: Warzone.
The free multiplayer weekend runs for 72 hours starting at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm UK on Friday, April 24 and includes 6v6 and 10v10 matches on five multiplayer maps: Aniyah Incursion, Hovec Sawmill, Khandor Hideout, Shoot House and Talsik Backlot.
Developer Infinity Ward implemented new measures this week designed to combat cheating in Modern Warfare and Warzone.
Players who report suspected cheaters will now receive confirmation in-game when a player is banned, while matchmaking has been updated to group suspected cheaters together.
A Modern Warfare and Warzone update update released on Tuesday included the following general fixes:
- Fixed a bug where players were able to use Game Battles to make custom weapon blueprints that they can then use in MP or Warzone.
- Upon picking up a dropped Renetti, the initial raise audio would be heard globally. This has been fixed.
- Fix for an invincibility exploit after reviving a teammate in Warzone.
- Fixed a bug where two watches would be seen on the wrist of the CTSFO 1 Mil-Sim Operator.
A mandatory Modern Warfare and Warzone update will also be released for PS4 and Xbox One on April 28, according to Activision Support. It will require players to download a data pack, although its contents have yet to be detailed.
Activision launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 3 in early April. Progression is unified across the titles, which share the same Battle Pass and item shop.
