Plants vs. Zombies 3 revealed and playable in pre-alpha
A limited number of users can access the game on Android devices
Electronic Arts has revealed Plants vs. Zombies 3 is in the early stages of development and currently playable in pre-alpha through the Google Play store.
A limited number of downloads for the latest entry in PopCap’s action-strategy series will be made available in phases, so you’re advised to check back on another day if you’re currently unable to access it.
Users will require an Android device that’s at least a Galaxy S7 in terms of specs, running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or higher to play.
EA says the pre-alpha is designed to get feedback on combat features only, and as the game is still early in development users can expect to encounter bugs and other issues.
There are no microtransactions in the pre-alpha and any in-game progress made may later be wiped.
EA didn’t say whether it plans to bring the pre-alpha to iOS, simply noting it’s not currently available on Apple devices.
The game is a sequel to Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time, which launched in 2013.
Mobile game revenue reportedly reached $29.6 billion worldwide in the first half of 2019, up 11.3% year-over-year.
