Plant vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville trailer appears online
Game name was recently trademarked by EA
A Plant vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville trailer has appeared online ahead of an upcoming reveal.
Featuring “temp game footage”, the trailer appeared online just days after publisher EA filed a trademark for the title, which is expected to be the next shooter entry in the Plants vs. Zombies series.
According to a ResetEra post, a listing for the game briefly appeared on EA’s own website in July.
An accompanying description read: “Kick some grass in Plant vs. Zombies Battle for Neighborville, the wackiest shooter yet! Unearth 20 fully customizable character classes, one social region, three free-roam regions, nine PvP modes, including 4v4 Battle Arena, and more!”
Reporting its quarterly earnings in May, EA said it planned to release a new Plants vs. Zombies “HD shooter title” during the current business year ending in March 2020.
CEO Andrew Wilson said it will be “fun and irreverent as always”, while CFO Blake Jorgensen said the company expects the game to sell “in the low single digit millions”.
EA held a console alpha test for the upcoming Plants vs. Zombies shooter in August. It said the title, which is codenamed Picnic, is in development at the team behind Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, which released for consoles and PC in 2014 and received a sequel in 2016.
EA will unveil its next Need for Speed title on Wednesday, August 14, according to a countdown on its official site.
