Planet Coaster: Console Edition is confirmed as a PS5 and Xbox Series X launch game
Current-gen owners can upgrade for free
Frontier has confirmed Planet Coaster: Console Edition will be a launch title for both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S next month.
Originally released for PC in 2016, Planet Coaster is the Rollercoaster Tycoon developer’s latest construction and management sim.
The game features three different modes; Career, which has players assume the role of a theme park manager; Sandbox, which lets players construct their own park on a plot of land; and Challenge, which is similar to Sandbox but with added difficulty.
The sim will be available in two versions on November 10 for Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 4, and on November 12 and 19 in territories where PlayStation 5 is launching.
Those who purchase a current-gen version of the game will be able to download the optimised next-gen version free of charge when it becomes available.
A Deluxe Edition will be available as a digital exclusive, Frontier said, which includes the base game, the Magnificent Rides Collection and the Classic Rides Collection, offering up a total of 18 new rides and coasters over the standard version.
Planet Coaster will retail for £39.99/$49.99/€44.99 for the standard version, and £49.99/$59.99/€54.99 for the Deluxe Edition.
Those who pre-order Planet Coaster: Console Edition or Planet Coaster: Deluxe Edition at participating retailers will also receive the Oswald’s Magnificent Machine ride, Frontier said.
