PixelJunk Raiders revealed as a Stadia exclusive releasing in March
Q-Games’ title will be free for Stadia Pro subscribers
Q-Games has announced PixelJunk Raiders, which will be released exclusively for Stadia on March 1, 2021.
Featuring procedurally generated landscapes, the roguelike action-adventure game sees players take on the role of a human replicant who uncovers a mysterious threat to humanity while on a mission to find habitable worlds.
“Planet Tantal is under attack by fiendish aliens bent on harvesting the population’s life force!” reads a product blurb from Google. “Shake off that hypersleep and slash, smash, raid, and rescue your way through hundreds of unique missions, all while unraveling the mystery of the enigmatic Keepers.”
PixelJunk Raiders supports Share State, a new Stadia feature which lets players share a playable slice of supported games with other users through captured clips and screenshots.
PixelJunk Raiders will be available for $19.99 or free with a Stadia Pro subscription. March’s other Stadia Pro games are Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle, Reigns and AVICII Invector.
Google announced this month that it was closing all its internal Stadia game development teams in a course change that will see the streaming platform focus on partnering with third-party game companies.
Discussing the decision in a follow-up conference call with employees, Stadia GM Phil Harrison reportedly pointed to Microsoft’s recent studio acquisitions, including the planned $7.5 billion purchase of Bethesda, as one of the factors that had persuaded Google to step back from original game development.
